Magic Posture
the Art of Playing the Violin Comfortably

Feedback from K. Osborne:

I knew it!  I have been complaining about these shoulder rests since I took up the fiddle about a year ago.  I kept buying different shoulder rests because I was convinced none were doing their jobs.  I know it's common for adult beginners to think "If I just find the right piece of equipment, I'll make progress." but I was sure there was something off about all my shoulder rests.

I already had the Wolf Forte Secondo, but I couldn't get it quite right either.  Recently, I asked my teacher if these things are supposed to make contact on my chest.  Mine wasn't.  I also have been unable to hold my fiddle up without hands, which, of course, meant my left hand was doing way too much work holding up the fiddle.

Thank you profusely for these two videos.  I immediately adjusted mine according to your instructions, and I had a far different practice than I have had before.  I can hold up my fiddle hands free!  My left hand is now free to do what it is supposed to do.  The Wolf rest makes contact all the way down the foam.  I know this isn't a magic bullet to improve my playing, but now I have confirmation that a piece of equipment was holding me back, and now it won't anymore.
